What is your favourite part about being an entrepreneur?
My favourite part of being an entrepreneur is the freedom to follow my passion and the ability to change direction based on my curiosity/what I believe will serve others. I don’t have limitations on how to better serve others. The freedom is to be 100% me in business and empower other people to shine.
What inspired you to start your business?
I was inspired to start my own business when my cat got very sick and needed an expensive surgery that cost more than my mortgage and 3+ weeks of pay from my current job. I had always been told that I would be a great business owner with my marketing skills but was afraid to take the leap. Once my cat was sick, I felt I had no choice but to start a side hustle to create more income. It took off, I quit my job, and I haven’t looked back since!
What services or products do you offer?
Photography & copywriting.
Who do you look up to for ideas and inspiration?
I look up to other photographers, both local and international. I’m lucky to live in such a collaborative business community where I often get to work alongside the very people who inspire me.
What’s your favourite piece of gear and why?
My 28-70mm lens – it helps me with versatility at events so I’m not switching my lens too often.
Favourite shoot location?
Anywhere outdoors with some beautiful greenery or by the water. I love Allenwood in Wasaga Beach.
How would you describe your editing style?
My editing style is bright and true to colour.
What’s the thing that gets you excited about work?
I get excited about work when I see my clients get fired up about a project we’re working on or celebrating themselves. When you watch someone go from nervous to confident and recognize their power, it’s a beautiful moment.
Who is your biggest cheerleader (and why)?
My biggest cheerleader is my mom! She knows how hard I’ve worked and what I’ve had to overcome to get to this place. She always asks about work, celebrates my wins, and reminds me of my awesome when I feel overwhelmed.
Why South Georgian Bay? What keeps you here?
South Georgian Bay has an incredibly supportive community and it’s what keeps me here. The people I’ve met have a beautiful energy that is truly indescribable. This place feels like magic.
What’s your favourite product or service that you offer?
I love when my work celebrates love, whether it’s self-love through a boudoir session or field frolic, engagement, or wedding. Being a part of your special and emotional moments is something I always treasure.
What technology innovation made the most impact on your life?
Social media, specifically Instagram, has made a huge impact. If businesses or people didn’t have a platform to showcase their photos to bring more business or celebrate themselves, I wouldn’t have as many opportunities to capture those moments for others.
What is something you are great at cooking? Do you cook it on special occasions? Is there a memory attached?
I make legendary sloppy joes from scratch. Add peanut butter and don’t question it.
What movie can you re-watch over and over again?
I watch Parent Trap and Miracle on 34th Street every year – hits me right in the feels.
