SUMMARY:Business Planning Launchpad Series (1 of 4): Ideation
DESCRIPTION:Vaughan Business and Entrepreneurship Centre (VBEC) presents this four-part workshop series that will help you work on your business plan and create a viable budget and financial projections for your business. This is a free\, virtual program\, designed for startups and established small businesses to get their ideas on paper through a step-by-step process of developing a business plan. A well-written\, realistic business plan that clearly articulates what you’ve already done and what you plan to do is a core requirement for qualifying for grant\, loan and investment opportunities. \nOn top of the training sessions\, all participants will be given an opportunity to book 30-minute one-on-one meetings with the entrepreneur advisor to get feedback on their business and financial plans. \nSession 1: Idea\, Business Viability and Market Research – validating your business idea\, vision\, mission and market research to test your business assumptions \nTopics covered in this session will include: \n\nIdeation\nValue proposition\nBusiness viability\nMarket research\nTrends and competitive analyses\n\nPlease note\, registrants will receive a Zoom link 10 minutes before the session starts\, and this four-part workshop series will be scheduled and repeated four times until October 2024 at different timeslots to accommodate various schedules. DESCRIPTION:The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) provides information to help businesses comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and better protect the privacy of Canadians\, their clients\, and customers. This information session will provide an overview of PIPEDA and its 10 Privacy Principles\, illustrating how these principles apply to businesses and answering questions regarding Canada’s federal private-sector privacy law. \nWhat you will learn: \n· What is the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)? \n· What are the privacy responsibilities of small businesses? \n· How can the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada assist small businesses comply with privacy legislation? \n· What are the 10 Privacy Principles of PIPEDA? \n· How might these 10 Privacy Principles apply to my small business? \nJoin us for an overview of PIPEDA to better understand how privacy laws might impact your small business. \nSpeaker Bio: \nThe Privacy Commissioner of Canada is an Agent of Parliament whose mission is to protect and promote privacy rights of individuals. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) oversees compliance with the Privacy Act\, which covers the personal information-handling practices of federal government departments and agencies\, and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)\, Canada’s federal private-sector privacy law. \nKelly O’Hearn is an Advisor with OPC’s Business Advisory Directorate since 2020. She possesses over 12 years of experience working with federal privacy legislation. \nIn her current role with OPC\, Kelly works closely with individual businesses to provide practical\, meaningful advice and guidance on their personal information handling practices. She enjoys working with businesses of all shapes and sizes through presentations\, Privacy Clinics\, and consultations to help them better comply with PIPEDA.
