DESCRIPTION:The Town of Collingwood invites local business owners\, tourism operators\, community organizations\, and interested community members to attend the Tourism & Accessibility Workshop on Monday\, November 2\, 2026\, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. \nAccessibility is more than a legislative requirement. It is an important part of customer experience\, business success\, and creating a welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike. \nThis free workshop will explore how accessibility can support businesses in better serving customers\, attracting new audiences\, and creating inclusive spaces that benefit everyone. \nWhat You’ll Learn\nParticipants will: \n\nGain an understanding of accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA);\nHear lived experience perspectives and learn how accessibility impacts residents and visitors;\nDiscover practical\, low-cost accessibility improvements that can make a meaningful difference;\nLearn how to use the AccessNow platform to showcase accessibility features and support informed customer decision-making; and\nTake home tools\, resources\, and ideas that can be applied within their own organizations.\n\nFeatured Presentation\nBreaking Down Barriers Independent Living Resource Centre will provide the educational component of the workshop\, including: \n\nAODA awareness and accessibility considerations;\nLived experience perspectives;\nCommon barriers experienced by people with disabilities; and\nPractical accessibility strategies that businesses can implement.\n\nEvent Details\n\nDate: Monday\, November 2\, 2026\nTime: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.\nLocation: Collingwood Public Library\, Community Rooms B & C\nCost: Free\nRefreshments: Light refreshments will be provided.\n\nSpace is limited.
