SUMMARY:Succession Success: Tax and Estate Planning Considerations (Session 5 of 6)
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Raffaele Ruberto\, SB Partner \nJoin Raffaele Ruberto from SB Partners for a plain-English deep dive into the tax and estate side of handing over your business—where the goal is simple: keep more in your pocket\, stay on the right side of the CRA\, and make the transition smooth for everyone involved. Raffaele will break down exactly what happens tax-wise when you sell shares\, gift them to family\, or trigger a rollover\, and show you proven ways to defer or slash capital gains so you’re not handing over half your life’s work to the government. \nYou’ll learn how an estate freeze can lock in today’s lower value for tax purposes while letting future growth flow to the next generation tax-free\, plus smart post-mortem moves that protect your estate if the unexpected happens. We’ll cover the must-have documents—wills\, powers of attorney\, and buy-sell agreements—and how life insurance can fund those buy-sells without draining cash flow. Raffaele will also unpack Bill C-208 and what it means for selling to family in Ontario. \nTaxes don’t have to eat your exit. Come get the strategies that let you transfer wealth\, not just the business.\n \nAbout The Presenter: \nRaffaele Ruberto\, CPA\, CGA\, TEP\, is a Partner at SB Partners\, specializing in tax planning. With a BA from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (2006) and CICA In-Depth Tax Course (2007-2009)\, he excels in corporate and personal tax\, trust and estate planning\, and advising non-residents.
