Have you heard of the Four Digital Marketing Pillars before? Take these four sessions to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to develop your digital presence.

Whether you are a start-up company or one that has been operating for years, you likely know the importance of having a digitally accessible business. If you have not yet realized how important this is, it will not take long before you do!

Wasaga Beach Economic Development has partnered with Canopy Media to deliver four workshop sessions that will provide you with the skills and knowledge to increase awareness of your tourism-related business. There are four sessions that will be held, each will focus on one of the pillars. They will include workshops on Google My Business, Building a Business Website, Social Media for Your Tourism Related Business, and Reputation Management. Each of these sessions will run for three hours and all are complimentary – all you have to do is sign-up!

Session One: Google My Business

The first of the Four Digital Marketing Pillars focuses on using Google My Business. This is a free tool for any business that allows you to manage how your company is viewed when it is found through a Google Search or on Google Maps. To further explain, it is the platform that provides information such as the link to your business website, business hours, customer reviews, photos, location, etc. It includes features that allow you to share updates, manage information that appears in search results, connect with your customers, and to better understand how your customers are connecting with your business online. This session will help you to navigate each feature of Google My Business and use the tool efficiently and effectively.

The first session will be held on September 18, 2019 from 9:30am – 12:30pm in The Classroom at Wasaga Beach Town Hall

Session Two: Building a Business Website

The second of the Four Digital Marketing Pillars focuses on building a business website. A business website is your digital foundation and a surprising number of companies in Wasaga Beach do not have a website for their business! In this technologically centered day and age, having a digitally accessible business is crucial for stability and growth. And having a website of your own not only helps potential customers learn more about you but also, establishes a sense of credibility. This session will teach you how to create a business website that is fast, user-friendly and optimized for website traffic on a mobile device. Did you know that mobile traffic has now surpassed all desktop traffic when viewing a website?

The second session will be held on October 2, 2019 from 9:30am – 12:30pm in The Classroom at Wasaga Beach Town Hall.

Session Three: Social Media for Your Tourism-related Business

Expanding on the second pillar, is the importance of using social media. The third of the Four Digital Marketing Pillars focuses on social media for tourism-related businesses. Social media can have an immediate and significant influence on a business’s customers – this is especially true in the tourism industry. What better way to learn about a new place  than to search it online before you visit?. Social media is a great resource to do just this – when your business’s account appears in the search results, you want it to have rich and engaging content. Ultimately, increasing traffic to your door and generating sales!

The third session will be held on October 16, 2019 from 9:30am – 12:30pm in The Classroom at Wasaga Beach Town Hall.

Session Four: Reputation Management

The fourth and final Digital Marketing Pillar focuses on reputation management. Though you may get many of your business’s reviews during face to face interactions, a majority of your customers’ reviews will be online. Whether it is on your Google My Business page, your website, social media, etc. You will want to be prepared in knowing how to respond and manage these reviews professionally. There are tools available to help you do just this – not all of your business’s reviews will be 5-stars and you will be faced with the challenge of having to respond in a way that upholds your business’s reputation.

The fourth session will be held November 6, 2019 from 9:30am – 12:30pm in The Classroom at Wasaga Beach Town Hall.

The sessions will be presented by Kai Hulshof who is the co-founder of Canopy Media and/or Julie Kaden who is the social media manager at Canopy Media.
