Summer Company Spotlight: Georgian Bay AI Consulting is Levelling The Playing Fields
As we see an increase in Artificial Intelligence (AI) based technology and the integration in business activities, you might want to consider a consultation with Ben Furse, Owner of Georgian Bay AI Consulting. Based in the Town of Blue Mountains, Ben offers in-person and virtual AI consulting and demonstrations to small and medium sized businesses looking to leverage, empower and stay competitive.
Ben has always had an interest in new technology and when the opportunity arose to turn a passion into a business through our Summer Company program, he leaped. Although Ben will be returning to university in the fall, we’re sure he’ll be back to provide more cutting-edge knowledge to the business community.

What is your favourite part about being an entrepreneur?
It’s been transformative seeing myself learn and gain valuable experience as I continue to operate Georgian Bay AI Consulting.
What inspired you to start your business?
I have always been interested in both technology and business and was unsure how to best explore those interests. However, the Summer Company program provided me with the opportunity to work on a project that focused on the intersection of those two fields. It’s been great!
What services or products do you offer?
AI consulting services, demonstrations, and tutorials.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned about AI?
77% of all devices use AI technology and that number is steadily increasing.
What would you tell someone who is curious about using AI for their business?
Get a ChatGPT-4 subscription!
What various platforms do you use and for what purpose?
ChatGPT – great for content creation and general work purposes
Wnr.ai – templates for certain AI use cases
MidJourney – AI Image generation
GPT-4 Code Interpreter – data analysis and advanced math functions
Who is your biggest cheerleader (and why)?
My biggest cheerleader is my dad. I think his enthusiasm comes from the fact that we both share similar interests in AI and technology. He was very excited to hear about my idea for an AI consulting business as we both followed the development of AI technology quite closely before the summer.
Who do you look up to for ideas and inspiration?
As well as being my biggest cheerleader, my dad is also the person who I look up to most. He has worked in many different fields and thus has a massive amount of experience and advice to offer. I am always impressed with how knowledgeable he is on many fronts and I aspire to be like this some day.
What’s one work-related skill that you’d like to develop, especially if you could do it easily?
Organization/Executive Function.
What are you favourite local spots to visit on a day off?
Georgian Peaks and Delphi Point.
What movie could you re-watch over and over again?
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Who is your favorite cartoon character and why?
My favourite cartoon character is SpongeBob SquarePants. My siblings and I grew up watching him which taps into my nostalgic memories and he has also become very iconic over the years.
