If you haven’t ventured over to Kitch’n Savvy in Stayner, add it to your list! Owners and Starter Company Plus graduates, Emaan and Savana, started Kitch’n Savvy as a way to share their heirloom Palestinian/Lebanese recipes and passion for cooking with the community they love. Their menu is full of flavour and Mediterranean food options, everything from chicken shawarma bowls, falafel pitas, and salads, to soups and full chicken dinners. Did we mention they make everything in house? Yup – everything is chopped, prepped, marinated, cooked, and made on-site to ensure maximum freshness. The two are the sweetest duo and their energy is unmatched.

Read on to learn more about Kitch’n Savvy + some of Savana’s favourite past times and local spots.

What is your favourite part about being an entrepreneur?

I love having the ability to connect and learn from a wide range of people. You can always learn something new.

What inspired you to start your business?

My family loves food! We have such a passion for serving delicious and unique family recipes that wow. We are excited to now share this with our community.

What kind of items do you offer?

On the menu you’ll find sandwiches, soups, salads, whole chicken dinners and frozen meals to go. We offer a dine-in or to-go options, making it an easy option for all time restraints and schedules.

How important is it to make your products in-house?

SO important! Everything we make is prepped, crafted and cooked in house to ensure freshness and quality taste.

Why South Georgian Bay? What do you love about living and running a business here?

We grew up in Collingwood so South Georgian Bay is our home. I love how close knit the community is and the beautiful nature we are surrounded by is the cherry on top.

Who do you look up to for inspiration?

We have some amazing home cooks in our family and some recipes that are worth gold. They’ve been passed down to us and we love tweaking them with a modern flare.

What are your favourite local spots to visit on a day off?

Espresso Post is top on the list. It’s so nice to meet friends there for a coffee and treat. We also love Collingwood Bread Company and their famous sourdough.

What’s your favourite item that you offer?

Poutine! Fresh cut fries, homemade gravy and cheese curds. It doesn’t get much better than that.

What are some key takeaways from being part of the Starter Company Plus program?

It’s so important to get organized from the start. You’ll thank yourself in the long run. There was so much support available and accessible to us through the SC+ program and that truly made an impact. Our biggest challenge was dealing with all of the delays that come with opening up a business. Everything took 4 months longer than expected so that was stressful at times. Happy to say we are open + serving guests!

Is there a type of music that you listen to when working?

When I’m in a funk I like to listen to theme songs from my favourite musicals. It instantly puts me in a better mood and gives my energy to keep going.

What is your favourite book and why?

The Girl in the Red Scarf. It’s a World War 2 romance with magic. Sounds intriguing right?
