ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Allison Williams | The Black Women Collective
My Journey of Impact.
Allison is a community-driven leader, social worker, and entrepreneur with a lifelong commitment to empowering individuals, families, and marginalized communities. Her journey began at age 17 as a nanny in the United States, inspiring her path into social work and advocacy, where she supported families by bridging public and private sector services.
After relocating to Canada in 2008, she transitioned into entrepreneurship, founding a company focused on gifts for parents-to-be—an experience that deepened her passion for community connection. She later returned to the non-profit sector as a family mentor, supporting individuals facing mental health challenges and systemic barriers, and strengthening her expertise in coaching and capacity-building.
Motivated by challenges on her own entrepreneurial journey, she founded a networking group for Black women entrepreneurs, which evolved into the Black Women Collective Social Enterprise. She currently serves as a Board Director with Halton Black Voices and volunteers with Think2wice, supporting healing and resilience for Black youth and men transitioning in and out of incarceration.
Her leadership and impact have been recognized through multiple honors, including the City of Brampton Community Builder and Champion Honorary, the Starter Company Plus Grant, the New Citizen Award, and a nomination for the Calgary Black Achievement Awards.
